BOWLING FOR CHAIRS 2025 ANNOUNCING OUR 100TH CHAIR & COUNTING!
For the 4th consecutive year, marvelous sights and sounds will be experienced at River City Roll on October 1st from 5 pm-9 pm at Richmond’s River City Roll, 939 Myers Street.
Warm vibes and sounds of balls rolling on polished lanes, the clash of the pins, multicolored lights, moving targets, laughter, applause and chatter, food and drink, fun games, and an enticing Silent Auction, wrapped in one riveting good time celebrating success.
“Bowling for Chairs 2025” marks a compelling milestone for Pink Chair Project RVA/ The Hawthorne. Pink Chair grants remote-controlled electronic chairs to post-operative breast cancer recipients. At the bowling fundraiser, Pink Chair plans to announce the granting of the 100th chair!
As expressed by Caryl Quinn, who is spearheading the Bowling for Chairs event, “I am over the moon about thinking about the accomplishments of Pink Chair and the impact we are having for so many in Central Virginia. The announcement of the 100th chair is major and consequential. We want everyone to know we make a difference.”
A cancer survivor, an ardent Pink Chair contributor, and board member of the Hawthorne Cancer Foundation, Caryl explains, “This is more than about counting chairs. I personally feel this milestone is stunning and comforting. We are here to help others heal, and more chairs will come!”
As Pink Chair’s director of development, Caryl expresses, “This is for everyone who has received our chairs to know they have counted. They are important, and we join them on their journey through breast cancer to heal in comfort. “
“Your support for the bowling event and Pink Chair means so much to so many.”
The announcement will be launched in October in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). This annual international health campaign endeavors to increase awareness, education, and eradication of disease.
Caryl states, “We are happy to join many nonprofit organizations on October 1st supporting awareness, early detection, and many success stories, and more chairs to give.”
According to breastcancer.org, approximately 1 in 8 women (13%) in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer at some point in their life. While advances in screening and treatment have reduced the overall risk of death from the disease, the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer continues to rise.”
The statistics are staggering. There is a continuing need for Pink Chair Project RVA in the Greater Richmond community. Pink Chair fulfills a need that was previously lacking. Each chair delivery brings hope, dignity, and a connectivity of caring for the recipients and their families which is a benefit to the community.”
As Founder and President of the Hawthorne Cancer Foundation, Linda Tsironis Caruther has stated, “We want those experiencing breast cancer to know you are not alone We appreciate the support from the Hawthorne Cancer Center at Johnston Willis Hospital to transform the idea of gifting chairs into a vital reality. We are grateful for our sponsors and dedicated volunteers.”
Linda expressed, “I am always moved by survivors’ stories and their warm appreciation of the part Pink Chair had in their healing. We thank our supporters for helping to spread the word about the positive impact of Pink Chair. We are honored to contribute.”
